nice machining work ... those sprockets machined from scratch too? How many teeth are on the big sprocket if you don't mind me asking

If those sprockets are machined from scratch using a roller chain hob 1/4" pitch ... could you tell me the equation you used for calculating the Outside Diameter for the blank and the Total Depth (cut)?

btw ... you should name it "Swiss Cheese"

... can't wait to see how you design the front axle for steering?

Wow ... that was a creative approach ... thanks for sharing!!!

I was thinking about machining some hexes on the front axles ... and hex broaching a bronze insert for the sprocket after boring it to a slightly larger size then center reaming the axles to accept a shortened Thunder Tech CVD clod axle and welding them in.

... your method is so much simpler (probably stronger) and much less time consuming

Where do you get those nice 1/4" pitch sprockets from??? Got a few from Small Parts Inc. but they don't look as nice as those babies.

Again .... thanks for posting those pics and keep them coming ... very helpful!!!

BTW ... if you don't mind ... how about some pictures of your shop ... be interesting to see what kind of equipment your using .... lathe, mill, etc.

Default 4x4 puller

actually i dont have a big shop i'm just a hobbist i have a sherline 8 axis mill and a sherline lathe. i'm not a machinist just like to play around and make things that work.i build pullere for my son to run i n competion.i get my small sprockets from mcmaster carr and the aluminum sprockets are only about $11. through a company called andymark they are #25 size but you need to thin them just alittle they are about ,020 to thick no biggy...chris...

Sherline makes nice equipment ... I'd like to try one of there CNC mills one of these days or an Industrial Hobbies CNC Mill Drill ... that would rock

I'm a Grizzly man myself ... G4003 12x36 lathe w/Sino 2-Axis DRO and a G3103 knee mill w/ Easson ES-10 3-Axis DRO (wish I had went with the 9x49 turret mill though )

Don't sell yourself short ... judging from the pics ... you produce quality work ... if that's not being a machinist I don't know what is ...
